Due to the weather, the graveside committal service for Mr. James Akers will be held today, Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 12:00p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home.
James Akers – Gate City, VA
James Akers, 82, Gate City, Virginia passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
James was born in Scott County, VA on August 20, 1937, and was the son of the late Patrick Hagan and Ada (Lane) Akers.
In addition to his parents, his wife and mother of his children, Betty (Jennings) Akers; great granddaughter, Emily Akers; sister, Ruby Tipton; and brother, Glen Akers preceded him in death.
James is survived by his children, Patricia Morelock and husband, Allen, Patsy Rhoton and husband, Ricky, Ricky Akers, Tammy Perry and husband, Charles, and Dana Frazier and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Travis Morelock, Dallas Morelock and wife, Brittany, Travis Akers, Brittany Rhoton and fiancé, Austin Hilton, Nathanial Akers and wife, Nakisha, Lexi Tipton, Alyssa Perry, and Hunter Frazier; great grandchildren, Carter Martin, Dawson Morelock, Kennedy Morelock, Bentley Morelock, Gavin Morelock, Katlin Akers, Sophie Akers, Mattie Hunley, Allison Akers, and Ada Akers; along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Carter Cemetery, Scott County, VA.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
