Coy E. Akers – Duffield, VA
Coy Emerson Akers, 71, Duffield, VA passed away, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at NOVA Health and Rehab, Weber City, VA.
Coy was born in Scott County, VA on August 19, 1945 to the late Gladys and Nannie Lane Akers.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Dalphine France preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Lane Akers, Duffield, VA; daughter, Tina Akers, Duffield, VA; step-son, Roger Jones, Nashville, TN; sister, Reba Crawford, Mt. Carmel, TN; brothers, Don Akers, Duffield, VA, Lonnie Akers, Gate City, VA, and Ken Akers, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jimmy Combs and Evangelist Rex McMurray officiating. A eulogy will be given by Bill Lane. Nancy and Ronnie Tipton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Gilliam Akers Cemetery in the Copper Creek community of Scott County, VA. Bobby Graham, T.J. Graham, David Tipton, JR Gillenwater, Chad Akers, and Bill Lane will serve as pallbearers. Don Akers, Ken Akers, Lonnie Akers, Scott Brown, and Michael Owens will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
