Adril Murill Hass- Born December 1, 1944, departed this life Friday, January 13, 2023. He is at rest with the love of his life, Beulah Faye Stanley Hass, his parents, Clifford H., and Sallie Mae Hass; his brothers, James Ferell, Dearl Lynn, and Huey Shirell Hass; his best friend, Preacher.

Murill (Poppy) was a coal miner by trade but a farmer and horseman at heart. He had a passion for his family, friends and most definitely his horses and dogs. He took great pride in seeing his son and his grandkids carry on with the family farm and his love of horses. He never met a stranger and as his niece stated, he was a “ kickbutt cowboy”.

He leaves behind his son, Jeffery Murill Hass and wife, Amy; his grandchildren, Jeffery Tyler Hass and wife, Meg, Derrick Jacob Boyd and wife, Victoria, John-Logan Cassell and Aneshia, Carli Cassell Gilliam and husband, Jacob; great granddaughter, Arabella, and a great grandson arriving in April, Carson Boone; his niece and her husband, Tammy and Michael Cassell; his furry companions, Sparky and Sassy; special nieces, Brooke McNew Hall and Rachel McNew; sisters, Marcella Osborne (Hobert), Rita Perry (James); brothers, Earl (Ilene), Leon (Brenda), Gary (Linda), Benny (Kathy), Denny (Donna) and Phillip Hass; sisters-in-law, Wanda Chapman (Eric), Jean Hass, Ann Hass and a special sister, Dorothy McNew; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mike Gilliam and Pastor Bryan Gunter officiating. Cindy Vaughn and Denny and Donna Hass will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at the Cox’s Chapel Cemetery, Duffield, VA. His grandsons, Tyler Hass, John-Logan Cassell, Jake Boyd, Jacob Gilliam, and nephews, Justin Hass, Noah Hass, and Tony Carter will serve as pallbearers. Bo Griffin, Carli Gilliam, Meg Hass, Victoria Boyd, Aneshia Stidham and Arabella Gillenwater will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery, Cox’s Chapel Church at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday for the graveside service.
