Tom Henry Addington, Sr. – Gate City, VA

Tom Henry Addington, Sr., 81, Gate City, VA went home to be with the
Lord, Sunday, March 24, 2019 at his residence.

Tom was born in Scott County, VA on August 6, 1937 and was the son of
the late Henry Farley Addington, Jr. and Ida Lee (Larkey) Addington
Lawson.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired Air
Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He was an
avid pilot during his service and professional career with the FAA.
Tom was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge (Oakville Lodge #599 Memphis, TN), a
Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Jericho Legion of
Honor.

He loved people and enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home in
Snowflake, VA that he and his son built together and where he and his
wife lived for the last 20 years. He recently celebrated 61 years of
marriage with his wife Wanda and left a rich legacy of love, respect and
generosity to his family who he cherished more than anything.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Charles Addington, Peggy
Harrison, Janice Jones, Alice Randolph, Susie Fisher, Johnny
Addington, Billy Addington, and Buster Addington.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Gilliam Addington, Gate City, VA;
son, Tom Henry Addington, II and wife, Sara, Gate City, VA; daughter,
Amy Addington Fitzpatrick and husband, Todd, Kingsport, TN;
grandchildren, Veronica Addington, Jamison Vicars, Solomon
Fitzpatrick, Anna Fitzpatrick, Catherine Hester Addington, and Skylar
Addington; brother, Henry Addington and wife Sandy, Bel Air, MD;
sister, Freddie Lawson and husband, Ralph, Kingsport, TN;
brother-in-laws, Merle Fisher, Fishersville, VA and Harvey Randolph,
Kingsport, TN; special cousin, Jerry Larkey, Bristol, VA; along with
many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

To accommodate out of town family and friends, a Celebration of Life
and Burial Service will be planned for late Spring and announced at a
later date.
