CHARLES PATTON ADDINGTON
Charles (Chuck) Patton (Pat) Addington, 79, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday October 10th at Indian Path Hospital as a result of complications from illness. He passed peacefully and expressed gratitude and love of those that had shared his life and that he was ready for the Lord to take him home.
Chuck was born in Scott County, VA and lived in Memphis, TN and Phoenix, AZ most of his life, but had returned to Kingsport, TN three years ago. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served our country for two terms (eight years). He then joined the Army Corp of Engineers and retired to Phoenix, AZ after 31 years of service; where he received several decorations and commendations.
He is preceded in death by; his parents, Henry Farley (H.F.) Addington Jr. and Idah Larkey Lawson; his wife, Mary Thomas Addington of Phoenix; his son, James Michael (Mike) Addington of Phoenix; sisters, Mrs. Earl (Peggy) Harrison of Kingsport, Mrs. Doyle Cotton (Janice) Jones of Kingsport and Mrs. Merle (Susie) Fisher of Fisherville, VA; and brother John Spencer Addington of Baltimore, MD.
He is survived by; his daughter, Patricia Ann Addington of Phoenix; his step son, Carl Borer of Phoenix; his three grandchildren, Mrs. Brian (Amy) Peters of Phoenix, Mrs. Cory (April) Reuna of Prescott, AZ, and Brandon Addington of Phoenix; his four great grandchildren, Hannah and Aaron Reuna, Anastasia and Michael Brandon Addington; his sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Alice) Randolph and Mrs. Ralph (Freddy) Sue Lawson both of Kingsport; his brothers, Tom Henry (and wife Wanda) Addington of Gate City, Va, Henry Farley (Butch) (and wife Sandy) Addington III of Bel Air, MD, Billy Addington of New York City and Anson Walcott (Buster) Addington of Baltimore, MD, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Chuck was a very special person and will be greatly missed and remembered with loving memories by those who shared his life. Family and friends will celebrate his life on Saturday, October 26th at 10 a.m. at Gate City Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at the Addington Frame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Addington Frame Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Mrs. Polly McConnell, 3717 Hendricks Hill Dr., Smyrna, TN 37167.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Indian Path Hospital staff for the compassion and loving care they provided to him while in the hospital.
