Guy "Yogi" Adams Duffield, VA ? Guy "Yogi" Adams, 61, went home to be with the Lord and entered his heavenly mansion Wednesday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was a gentle giant who had a heart of gold and loved everyone he met. Yogi touched many lives with his kindness and generosity.
He was an avid collector of guitars and enjoyed playing and singing. Yogi was a retired employee of Robinette Steel and Scrap Metal Company of Big Stone Gap after 34 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rachel Adams Lawson and brother, James Lawson. Surviving are his brother, Bill Lawson, Duffield, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Frances and Larry Seymour, Baltimore, MD; uncles, Elmer and Ernest Adams; nephew, Michael Lawson; niece, Pam Lawson; aunts, Opal Richardson and Bee Bradley; lifetime friend and co-worker, Kenny Fannon; special friend and neighbor, Belt Ramey, Duffield, VA.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. William Bowen officiating. Music will be provided by the Tipton Family Singers.
Burial will follow the service at the Bowen Cemetery, Cliff Mountain Way Road. Pallbearers will be Kenny Fannon, Belt Ramey, Michael Lawson, Brad Bowen, Wayne Tignor, R.C. Bowen, Lester Bowen, Alonzo Jessee and Robbie Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale and Jimmy Smith, Frank Miller and employees of Robinette Steel Company.
