Garvey ‘Mack’ McGee, Gate City, VA

Garvey ‘Mack’ McGee, 67, Gate City, VA passed away on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at his residence.

Mack was born in Scott County on December 24, 1950 to the late Sam Wesley McGee and Hazel Lane Darnell. He is also preceded in death by his son Garvey Mack McGee, Jr., his sister, Brenda Estep and husband John, brother-in-law, Wayne Davidson and his step-father, Walker Darnell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cora B. McGee Gate City, VA, son Nolan Wesley McGee, Gray, TN; daughters, Kimberly McMurray, Karan Williams, and Lacy Reinhold, all of Kingsport, TN; sons, Michael (Helen) Hall, Knoxville, TN, Vannie (Angel) Laney, Lebanon, VA, Timothy (Lisa) Laney, Gate City, VA, Randy (Tammy) Laney, Gate City, VA, Steve Laney, Kingsport, TN, Ronald (Jan) Laney, Gate City, VA, Donald (Robin) Laney, Kingsport, TN, Shannon (Danielle) Williams, Yuma, VA, and a Very Special Son, Shawn Laney of the home; mother, Hazel Lane Darnel; sisters, Joyce Davidson, Yuma, VA, and Emogene (H.E.) Quillen, Yuma, VA; brothers, Sam (Pat) McGee, Kingsport, TN, Henry (Sue) McGee, Gate City, VA, Glen McGee, Gate City, VA, Bobby (Michelle) McGee, Kingsport, TN, Charles (Trish) McGee, Gate City, VA; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Gate City Funeral Home on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Evg. Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Clayton Williams officiating. Michael and Danny Darnell will be providing the music.

The graveside service will be on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to go in procession to the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m.
