Obituary for Delmar Fraysier

Delmar James Fraysier, 70, Knoxville, TN passed away Monday, October 29,2018 at his residence following several years of declining health.
Delmar was born in Kingsport, TN on September 24, 1948, and was the son of the late Charles W. and Maye McClellan Fraysier. Delmar graduated from Gate City High School and briefly attended Virginia Tech before serving in the U.S Army in Germany and Vietnam. He then worked in various U.S. locations before settling in Knoxville and spending the remainder of his career with Lockheed-Martin Energy Research in Oak Ridge. Delmar spent his free time researching genealogy and his family heritage, contributing information to the Scott County Historical Society, reading all kinds of books, collecting bluegrass and mountain music, and entertaining his family with his quick dry wit. Board games with his siblings was always the highlight of their get-togethers, and naturally, he usually won.
Left to cherish Delmar’s memory is his brother Gary (Cheryl) Fraysier, Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Nancy (Steve) Cottingham, Noblesville, IN and Christine Street, Abingdon, VA; nephew Jeffrey Fraysier; nieces Laura (Sterling) Swaim and Amy (Mike) Koivisto, all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Heather (Grover) Browning, Indianapolis, IN; 5 great-nieces and -nephews; and special friends Nathan Catron and Greg Bledsoe.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.
Interment of his ashes will follow at a later date at Holston View Cemetery.
